“ In the center of the picture there is Tsvitkivska Yulia Andriivna. Her daughter Maria is on the left. Her son Vasyl is on the top and his wife Valentyna is on the right. It is interesting to note that all women have the same hairstyle. Once a week until her final day my grandmother went through the same routine: she took her hair out of the braids, she combed them and then she braided them and formed plaits into diadem. The picture was taken for her husband Mykola Danylovych who then was a prisoner at Mahadan labour camp. Dress she’s wearing in this picture was in use for a long time. She still wore it when he returned home to his family. ”
