Kateryna Filonova
The collection consists of 80 photographs and a pioneer booklet dating from 1950-1987 that belong to the family of Kateryna Filonova from Kramatorsk.
They are grouped according to the supposed themes: “Holidays and parties” - that are, for instance, photographs from a wedding and New Year celebration; “Motor vehicle” (“Avtotransport” - uk.) - the motorcycle and car of Kateryna Filonova’s grandfather, next to which people pose; funerals.
Domestic scenes in the courtyard, near and in the houses. Many of the photos were taken on “Oktiabrska hora” (“October hill” - eng.) - the area of Third International Street (now Ivasiuk Street), or in the “Mayachok” area. On them, it is noticeable that people pose taking into account the presence of the camera. The special story is “Men and children” - men from the Kremenchutskyi side of the family loved children very much and spent a lot of time with them.
Only one of all the photographs was taken by a professional photographer at the factory. Many others were taken by Vasyl Lezhepokov, who was a professional military man, and who served in Germany and took part in the suppression of the Prague Spring in 1968. Then he tried to take pictures professionally and informally moonlighted taking pictures of walkers in the parks.
The descriptions of the photographs are based on the comments of Kateryna Filonova.
