The collection includes four films shot in the 1960s and 1970s on 8mm film. One of the films was produced by the amateur film studio “Kompas” (“Compass”) (M. Kobyliukh, V. Martynchuk).

The films focus on outdoor recreation and tourism, primarily in the mountainous and riverine landscapes of the Carpathians and the Dniester Canyon. The plots center on hiking, rafting, and group recreational activities.

A significant body of material documents rafting routes on the Dniester and preparations for the trip (gathering equipment, loading kayaks, setting up camp), as well as rest stops: cooking, picnics, fishing, and swimming under waterfalls. Some segments include tours of historical sites (such as castle ruins).

The film “Journey through the Gorgany” (August 1968) by the amateur film studio “Kompas” documents the route the filmmakers covered over 9 days: arrival by train, climbing peaks, overnight stays in tents, and daily life in the field. The film is structured around custom-made title cards that outline the journey's duration and key points.

Separately presented are scenes of winter recreation in the Carpathians: skiing and sledging, walks through snow-covered landscapes, and stays at tourist lodges.

The collection includes footage from the following cities and locations: Dniester Canyon, Rakovets, the Carpathians, Yablunytsia, the Gorgany, Khomyak, Synyak, Dovbushanka, Yaremche, and Syvulia.
