"It’s a picture of my sister Olena and her husband Ihor, a student of the Kharkiv Medical Institute at that time. He was a skillful tailor. Back then, it was trendy to wear vests among Kharkiv students. He made this vest for my sister, but I often borrowed it. We wore it for many years. He made his own banana pants in this picture. Banana pants on Elena were brought from Moscow. At that time a lot of Kharkiv students went to Moscow by night train and spent their day standing in queues in stores and buying things. After that they returned to Kharkiv by night train again to be in time for their classes. Elena knew how to knit. Ihor is wearing a vest that she made."
