“It’s a picture of my mom Tetiana (in the middle), her sister Natalya (on the left) and their cousin Maryna (on the right). My mom and aunt wear identical clothes in the fashionable manner ‘because you’re sisters’. Their mother Halyna was a seamstress at a clothing factory in Volochysk, Khmelnitsky region. In Feodosia, where she was taking courses as an assignment from her factory, she bought a dress for her elder daughter Natalia. My mom was desperate. She cried for three days and spoke to no one. First to give up was her father. He gave money to my grandmother's coworker who must have been next to go to Feodosia so that she would buy the same dress for his younger daughter Tania. Dresses were worn simultaneously. My aunt still remembers these dresses very vividly. She says that they were regarded as very fashionable because of asymmetry.”
