Description

Heavy traffic on Oleksandrivsky (now Volodymyrsky) Uzviz in winter. Horsed carts are coming up heavily; there are many people on the sidewalk; an electric tram is running. The photo may have been taken on a day when an active commerce was carried on at the Contracts Fair. On the left, a structure known under the name of the Palestinian Filter can be seen, which functioned as a water tower and was situated in the “Palestinian gorge.” Above on the left, there is the monument to St. Volodymyr; the wide Dnieper river is seen in the distance.
