The collection consists of two photographs and five films by Lviv amateur filmmaker Albert Opanasovich Patai, a member of the amateur film club at the Lviv branch of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf (UTOH), made between 1974 and 1991 on 16 mm film using a Kyiv-16U camera.
The photographs in the collection capture urban spaces and recreational areas in Lviv, including the western side of Rynok Square and the Ferris wheel at Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Culture and Recreation Park.
The films document moments from private life: family leisure time in the interior of an apartment; children playing in the courtyard of a Khrushchev-era building; walks and recreation in urban spaces and parks; skiing; visits to exhibitions and fairs; and excursions to other cities. Separately, there are scenes of the deaf community's leisure activities.
In the frame and behind the scenes of the films are Albert Patay's relatives: his mother, Anastasia Ilkivna Patai (Nesterenko); his wife, Anna Vasylivna (Moroz) Patai; his daughter, Lyudmila; his grandson, Dmytro Reikhtman; his sister, Liudmyla Opanasivna (Patai) Sklyarska; his niece, Natalia; and friends from the Stepanian family.
The collection is marked by the author's self-reflection and self-representation as a media amateur. In one of the films, Albert Opanasovich's grandson, Dmytro, is placed in a space surrounded by film and photographic equipment, where amateur media practice and the presence of descendants coexist as equally important life achievements.
The collection includes footage from Lviv and Kyiv.
