The picture shows Mariyska Square (now Mickiewicz Square) with the Adam Mickiewicz monument which was fashioned by the sculptor Anthony Sulima Popiel and erected in 1904. Behind the monument in building No. 10 which was built in 1840. Around the monument are the steps, balustrade, and flowerbeds which were made around 1907 and designed by architect Theodore Talowski. Today this view has changed significantly since buildings No. 9 and 10 behind Mickiewicz have been torn down and replaced by the head office of Ukrsotsbank.
