“For my first visit to a photo studio during my student years, I wore a light blue sweater and a silver chain with an emerald-green glass pendant. I chose this outfit for special occasions only. Besides, the sweater was very practical. Made of polyester, it didn't need ironing and wouldn't deform. Although the sweater fabric was hardly breathable, others thought it was a light hand made lace.
I bought the item at the Vasylkiv store called Stimul, where scarce goods, being foreign products, were sold. They could only be bought in this way: first, you needed to collect and dry medicinal herbs, hand them over to the raw materials reception facility, then receive a check with the specified amount of money, and buy clothes for it. I had to spend all summer picking herbs to get this German sweater but I wore it for many years.”
