Studio photo of a woman
- ID: 48157
- Place: Bila Tserkva
- Date: 1988
"It’s a picture of the couple Yuliia Yefremivna and Ivan Hnatovych Voitsekhovski. They were from Kyiv. Shortly after the marriage they went to the Uman region, Yulia's homeland, and in Uman visited a photo studio to take a commemorative picture for their relatives.
Ivan Hnatovych was a chief cook for all his life. Until 1918, he worked in the family of Counts Branitskyi's, who lived on Sadova Street in Kyiv. Voitsekhovski family lived nearby on Oleksandrivska street. Branytskyi offered Ivan Hnatovych to emigrate in 1918, but he refused, and the family stayed in Kyiv. He became Ivan only under Soviet rule. His birth certificate listed him as Yan because he was Polish."
