The photographer captured the appearance of the chapel, which was slightly rebuilt in 1850 at the expense of Lychakiv resident V. Pokora. The chapel, which stood in the middle of upper Lychakiv since the mid-18th century, was a monument to the violent temper of Kaniv starost Mykola Pototsky, who killed an unnamed nobleman who crossed his path at this spot. During the Soviet era, the chapel was destroyed (1956), but it was rebuilt in 1998 according to a design by B. Baran and Semen Tsymbaliuk; the figure of the Mother of God was created by sculptor Volodymyr Loza.
