The interior of the Transfiguration Church was created by famous artists of the time: Kornylo Ustyyanovych, Mykhailo Osinchuk, Antin Pylykhovsky, Tadeusz Popel, Andriy Koverko, Teofil Kopystynsky. The largest Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Lviv was built in 1875–898 according to the design of S. Havrishkevych on the site of the former church and monastery of the Trinitarians on Krakivska Street. In 1783, the Trinitarian order was abolished by the Austrian authorities, and the buildings were intended to house the university and library. As a result of the bombardment of the city in 1848, these buildings burned down. For a long time, the ruins stood empty. Part of the plot was given to the Ukrainian community for the construction of the People's House, and the Transfiguration Church was built on the site of the burned-down old university library. Its consecration took place only in 1906.
