An interview with the soloist of the opera, People’s Artist of Ukraine. He studied in Kyiv Musical Academy, then in Lviv Conservatory (moved because he wanted to learn from Ostap Darchuk). He has been working at the theatre since 1970. The interviewee describes in detail the peculiarities of work of an opera soloist, underlines the difference between working in opera and operetta. At the same time, the man remarks several times that there are no “good” or “bad” parties, as everything depends on the character of voice, professionalism, and presentation. Recalling the audience, the man doesn’t focus on the number of people watching the performance – he always does his best and tries to sing energetically and naturally so that it is interesting for the audience to watch what is taking place on the stage.
Recorded on 20th June 2013 at the interviewee’s place of work. The interviewer – Natalia Otrishchenko. - Date:
