The photo shows the building of the Chernivtsi airport, situated in the southeastern suburb of the city. The airport was opened for public and given the status of an international airport in the 1930s. The terminal building was finished in 1932. Today it is – like the whole airrfield – badly neglected but still serves it purpose. All attempts to link Chernivtsi with cities abroad by air have failed so far. Helmut Kusdat
