“It’s a picture taken at the wedding of art historian Natalia Smirnova and painter Yurii Nikitin, icon-painter in later years. Usually it was common for art circles to refuse to follow traditions considered conventional like the bridal veil and white color of the dress and to demonstrate their right to express their own attitude towards such celebration. Violet dress ms. Smirnova is wearing in the picture was created in the Republican Modelling House by designer Ariadna Tatarynova. Nikitin’s three-piece suit was tailored in Mykhailo Voronin’s atelier”.
