A panoramic shot captures the participants of the celebrations. The flag is raised as the anthem of the USSR plays. Girls bring out bread and salt. Flowers are laid at the monument to Lenin. A mother and child lay flowers at the mass grave of those who died during World War II. A procession of veterans marches to the monument and lays flowers. Veterans are treated to a ceremonial loaf.
A plaque is unveiled to commemorate the reunion of former pupils of the Ivan Franko Chereshenka Orphanage (known as the Comintern Orphanage until 1956). Olha Hryhorivna Demydenko recites poetry. The audience reacts. Teacher Hanna Mykolaiivna Malkova is seen with her pupils. Participants of the celebration converse. Children play on a swing in the playground.
