The Main Post Office building was constructed in 1887–1889 on a plot of land belonging to the Greek Catholic seminary (along Kopernika Street), for which the area of the monastery garden was reduced. The project was based on Fr. Zetz's standard post office buildings, adapted to local conditions and modified by Lviv architect Sylwester Gavryshkevych; it was implemented by the union of architects Ludwik Ramult and Józef Cybulski. In 1922, Eugeniusz Czerwinski reconstructed the Main Post Office building, which had been significantly damaged during the Polish-Ukrainian War. Slovackiego Street (until 1871 — Palatsova Street), named after one of the most outstanding Polish poets, connects Kopernika Street and 3 Maja Street (Sichovykh Striltsiv Street).
