The entrance to the Uzhhorod Castle of the 9th-13th centuries, which rises in the geometric center of the city, on the Castle Hill, about 30 m high. It was here that the settlement that later became Uzhhorod was located. The outer walls of the castle were built in 1653-1658, the last reconstruction of the castle took place in 1709-1710, it was then that it received its modern appearance. In 1715-1776, a military garrison was located in the castle, in 1776-1945 - the Uzhhorod Theological Seminary. In 1945-1947, a military unit was temporarily located here, and in 1947 all the buildings were transferred to the Transcarpathian Museum of Local Lore.
