In June 1941, a bomb hit the old Hausnerivskyi building on the corner of Kopernyka and 1 Travnya streets. All three years of the German occupation, the ruins stood, surrounded by a wooden fence. In 1948–1950, the building was restored, and a fourth floor was added according to the project of architect Mykola Mykula. The first floor housed large stores of sporting goods, military clothing, and the lobby of the "Dnipro" cinema.
