Woodcut image of the Boim family chapel - an illustration in the popular Lviv magazine "Strikha", which was published by the bookseller F.G. Richter from 1868. The illustration is made from a photo by the famous Lviv photographer Józef Eder, dated 1868. The Boim chapel, a striking example of Lviv late Renaissance architecture, was built in the cemetery near the Lviv Cathedral in 1609-1615 by the Wrocław architect A. Bemer. It is notable for its rich sculptural decor, but the author of the woodcut does not elaborate on the details of the image, but tries to give a generalized view of the monument. At the beginning of the 19th century. the cemeteries that existed around the churches were liquidated. Thus, in 1828, Cathedral Square appeared. From the side of St. Halytska and the square to the Boim chapel were completed buildings. The completion hid the decor of the southern side wall of the chapel, in this state it has survived to this day. In 1850-1857, the building on the right housed a branch of the second (German, former Dominican school) gymnasium. Similar illustrative graphic images were common in the middle of the 19th century and were later replaced by photographs, which gradually replaced graphic images of city landmarks on the market.
