The image represents the Baroque portal of a defunct tenement house on the current Ivan Fedorov Street. The photographer's contemporaries, experts in ancient architecture, noted the 17th-century stone consoles that supported the porch in the courtyard. The house was built in the 17th century for the court physician of King Jan III Sobieski, Dr. Simhe Menachem (Emanuel de Jon). In 1907, the then owner of the house demolished it, and an ordinary residential building, typical of the early 20th century, was built on this site.
