The house of printer and publisher Joseph Piller at the corner of Lychakivska and Panska Streets, 8 (Vynnychenko) was built around 1805; it is decorated with 15 reliefs depicting ancient gods by Lviv sculptor Johann Schimzer. In 1806, German traveler J. A. Schultes noted: “Printer Piller now has one of the most beautiful stone buildings in Lviv.” In 1866, the Galician Music Society (since 1880 – the conservatory) was located in the building. In the second half of the 19th century, a post office was located in the corner room on the first floor, but it ceased to exist in the early 1970s due to the construction of an underground passage to the Bernardine Monastery.
