A view of the newly created Romanovich Street (now Saksaganskoho Street), a relatively young street at the beginning of the 20th century. It was formed as a street only during the era of city self-government, when during the global reorganization of Lviv in 1871 it was named Stsiezhkova. Until then, it was just a narrow pedestrian path along the Soroka River, which flowed along the future street towards Akademichna.
At the end of the 19th century, Stsiezhkova began to be built up, in 1905 it was named in honor of the public figure Tadeusz Romanovich. Before World War I, the street was mostly formed. The photo was taken before the construction of the Financial Prosecutor's Office building on the corner of Zyblikevich Street (now I. Franka Street), which was carried out by the architectural and construction firm of architect Michal Ulyam.
Photographic studio of Zofia and Rudolf Huber's was located in the attic of house number 11, which is visible in the background of the image, behind a fence covered with advertising posters and billboards.
