<p>The mighty, ellipse-shaped cupola of the Dominican Church stands in contrast to the refined silhouette of the Kornyakt Tower, creating a unique landmark in the panorama of Lviv. The photograph offers a view of the eastern part of the city, taken from a point by the Porokhova (“Gunpowder”) Tower, and exhudes the aura of the old city. The photograph has special value, due to the fact that it was authored by Jan Bulgak, renowned Polish artist and photographer from Wilno/Vilnius, who in the 1920s had numerous links to the Lwów Photographical Society. <br /><em>Oleh Vvedenskyi</em></p>
