The town of Koltiv is located on the left bank of the Western Bug River, 18 km from the district center of Zolochiv. The first written mention of the town dates back to 1441. At the beginning of the 19th century, the estate passed into the possession of Count Józef Baworowski. The owner built a large family palace and also arranged the estate territory. He arranged a classic English park, which became famous far beyond the borders of Galicia. In the center of the town, a brick Greek Catholic Church was built at the expense of Count Baworowski. At the end of World War I, a fire destroyed the estate and the palace. In July 1944, Koltiv became the center of fierce battles between the tank army of the 1st Ukrainian Front and German groups. These events went down in history as the "Koltiv Breakthrough" and were of decisive importance for the subsequent successful offensive and liberation Lviv.
