On the occasion of the grand opening of the General Provincial Exhibition of 1894, Archduke Karl Ludwig, deputy curator of the exhibition of Emperor Franz Joseph I, arrived in Lviv. He came to the exhibition accompanied by the governor of Galicia, Count Kazimierz Baden. On the square in front of the Industrial Pavilion, the archduke was greeted by representatives of the Lviv community, as well as the Presidium of the exhibition and its head, Prince Adam Sapieha. After the greetings, the guest was led to the main hall of the Industrial Pavilion, where a throne decorated with ermine was prepared, standing on a platform under a blue canopy. Later, after the departure of the distinguished guest, an exhibition dedicated to the imperial family was arranged here, richly decorated with all the necessary heraldic attributes. In the photographs taken by Edward Trzemeski, a member of the exhibition's organizing committee, the exhibition was named the Imperial Pavilion.
