An important monument of the city government is the ceremonial chain, an indispensable symbol of the power of the burgomasters, presidents, and mayors of Lviv. The Lviv Historical Museum held the chain from 1892, made on the occasion of the expected visit to Lviv of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Instead, the image shows the appearance of the silver chain of the mayor of Lviv, made in 2005 at the Lviv Jewelry Factory. It was transferred to the funds of the Lviv Historical Museum in 2006 by the ex-mayor of Lviv Lyubomyr Bunyak. This chain is evidence of the revival of ancient Lviv traditions in our time. In the Lviv City Hall, the mayor of the city has two silver chains in use. One of them is a silver product of 925 standard weighing 903 g, made according to the model of 1892 with the modern coat of arms of the city; the second is an author's work by O. Hykova 1999. The central gilded medallion of the 2005 chain depicts the coat of arms of Lviv; on the three-link chain there are six smaller medallions (according to the number of districts of the city) with relief images of Lviv landmarks. Each medallion is framed by relief gilded images of viburnum chains decorated with ruby corundums. The central medallion with the coat of arms and the clasp are decorated with two amethysts.
