The horse-drawn carriage is a primary example of public transport in 19th century Lviv. Horse-drawn carriage stops were located in the central part of the city in Galician, Academy, Mariatsky, and Holukhovsky Squares and on Ossolinsky Street close to the main post office. Moreover, there were other types of public transport in the city, including the omnibus (1835), horse-drawn tram (1884), and the electric tram (1894). The photographer immortalized the image of one of the horse-drawn carriages, carrying passengers down the freshly paved Adam Asnyk Street. In the background, on the corner of Pansky Street stands building No. 1, constructed in 1906.
