"It’s a picture of my mother Olga Kovalchuk with me sitting on her arms, and Olga Kutsenko at the entrance of the village council. At that time my mother worked there as a secretary. Back then, Turya village was large and had its own school, village council, canning factory and even a bookstore. One of my mother's responsibilities was to perform the marriage ceremonies. For the ceremonies my mother and her colleague had to wear a special costume. Dresses for it were sewn in a local atelier. They themselves chose the style and bought the fabric for these garments - it was a pink tricot. The cape of my mother's dress is lined with mink fur, which was bought from local hunters. You could always buy fox or fox fur from them."
