Sitting Christ on the dome of the Boims’ Chapel
- ID: 80
- Place: Lviv
- Date: 2005
This contemporary photograph shows the sculpture of a Mourning Christ in sitting position on the roof of the Boim Chapel. To crown a chapel with a crucufix, like a church, would not have been customary and, at the end of the 16th - beginning of the 17th century the owners of the building (the Boim family) were probably familiar with this iconographic convention and decided to portray the Mourning Christ in a sitting position. There is no comparable sculpture in Lviv.
