General secondary school No 12 in Druzhkivka
The collection includes photographs by Oleksandr Leonidovych Boyko. He led the hobby photo group and was an art teacher in a general secondary school No 12 in Druzhkivka town, Donetsk region. The photographs were not included into the presentation album to celebrate the school’s jubilee as they were treated as “non-festive.” Presently, they are stored in the school’s museum. A teacher Viktor Petrovych Bilko sorted out the materials from the school museum, and his son, a culturologist Dmytro Bilko, transferred them for digitalization. Some photos have never been staged, they are rather informal: relaxed or playful postures, random footage, etc.
The photos come from the 1960/90’s and show the school life. The school was opened on September, 1, 1959; in 1979, it was relocated to a new building. At that time, the school had 1,650 pupils. The photos show the celebrations of the First and the Last Days of School, joining the pioneer’s organization, meetings with factory top performers, trips to help the collective farms pick the beetroots, May One parades, performances of choruses, shooting range competitions, and summer camps.
