A real building "boom" happened in Proskuriv at the end of the 19th through the beginning of the 20th Century. The majority of the buildings were constructed in the classic form and in the style of art nouveau. Sometimes the provincial architects would create buildings with an extremely interesting combination of various styles. One example of such buildings was constructed in the 1890’s on Kamianetska St. by the Proskuriv merchant Efim Khaimovych Gorenstein, the owner of the brick factory and “Modern” cinema – the best in town. In the 1950’s the building was demolished.<br /><em>Serhiy Esiunin</em>
