In 1870 an extraordinary event occurred in the history of Proskuriv that significantly influenced the further development of the city – the construction of railway tracks from Zhmerynka through Proskuriv to Volochysk was completed. Simultaneously with the tracks development, the main railway station was constructed that immediately occupied an important place in the lives of inhabitants of Proskuriv. During the war years of 1941-1945 the station’s facilities including the main railway station were significantly damaged, and it was decided in the post-war years to build a new railway station. Therefore, in 1951-1952 the original railway station was pulled down, and a new one was built in its place. In 1984 the railway station was completely rebuilt.
Serhiy Esiunin
