Description

Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, with the temporary covering of ruberoid, put in place in 1915, probably, after the bombardment of Shchyrets. The church’s walls were made of the local stone plaster, which pulls in moisture, which causes it to crack and furrow. This is the reason constant renovations were needed for the outer upper walls. Due to the use of stone plaster in the construction of buildings, the thickness of the walls was set at almost 1.8 metres. The Shchyrets church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in the 16th c., ruined countless times during Tartar attacks, rebuilt fortified by a wall in 1662; its current appearance dates back to 1892.
